RRB Recruitment 2025: NTPC Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be done through a four-stage process-
First Stage CBT
The first stage CBT is the same for all posts and is conducted for screening purposes. The exam lasts 90 minutes and consists of three sections:
- General Awareness
- Mathematics
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
In this stage of the exam, the marks obtained by candidates are normalized. This means that since the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, the difficulty level of each shift may vary. To ensure fairness, the marks are adjusted so that no candidate is at a disadvantage due to varying question difficulty.
After this process, candidates are shortlisted for the second stage Computer-Based Test (CBT) based on their final adjusted scores. To increase their chances of qualifying, aspirants should practice previous years’ question papers. This will help them understand the exam pattern, identify important topics, and improve their time management skills.
Second Stage CBT
In the second stage CBT, candidates are shortlisted in a 1:20 ratio (20 times the number of vacancies) based on their first stage performance.
This exam also lasts 90 minutes and includes the same three sections:
- General Awareness
- Mathematics
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
Those who qualify for this stage move forward to the skill test, depending on the post they have applied for.
Typing Skill Test & CBAT For RRB Recruitment 2025
The Typing Skill Test and CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) are conducted for specific posts:
- CBAT is for Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
- Typing Skill Test is required for Junior Clerk, Senior Clerk, Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk, and Junior Account Assistant.
Candidates are shortlisted for these tests in a 1:8 ratio (eight times the number of vacancies) based on their second-stage CBT scores.
Document Verification For RRB Recruitment 2025
Once candidates successfully pass all the required exams, they are invited for the document verification process.
In this stage, officials carefully check the candidates’ educational certificates, identity proofs, caste/category certificates (if applicable), and other required documents to confirm their eligibility for the job.
The final selection of candidates depends on two main factors:
- Merit – Candidates with higher scores and better performance in the exams are given preference.
- Number of Vacancies – Selection is also based on the total number of job openings available for that particular post and category.
Only those candidates who have successfully cleared all the previous stages of the recruitment process are called for document verification. If a candidate fails to provide the required documents or does not meet the eligibility criteria, they may be disqualified.
Medical Examination For RRB Recruitment 2025
After successfully clearing all the previous stages, selected candidates must undergo a medical examination. This test is conducted to ensure that they are physically fit and capable of performing the duties required for their specific job role in the railway department.
During the medical examination, doctors check various health parameters, including:
- Vision (eyesight test) – To ensure candidates meet the required vision standards for their post. Some positions may have stricter eyesight requirements.
- Hearing ability – To confirm that candidates can hear properly, as some jobs require clear communication and alertness.
- Physical fitness – Depending on the job role, candidates may need to meet specific physical standards, such as height, weight, and overall fitness.
- General health check-up – To identify any serious medical conditions that might affect the candidate’s ability to perform their job safely and efficiently.
Only those candidates who pass this medical test will be considered fit for the job and will move forward in the selection process. If a candidate does not meet the required medical standards, they may be disqualified from the final selection.
