Bookings Restricted After September 3 to accommodate Vistara’s Last Flight on Tuesday, November 11

Passengers will no longer be able to book flights with Vistara for departures after November 11 starting on September 3.

Vistara's merger in Air India

New Delhi: On November 11, Vistara Airlines will stop using its name for operations. Beginning on November 12, the airline’s operations will be fully integrated with Air India, signifying the completion of a merger process that was started almost two years ago.

Vistara is a partnership between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. Since Tata Group also owns Air India, they decided to combine the two airlines to make operations smoother and improve the travel experience for passengers.

As part of this merger, Singapore Airlines will own 25.1% of the newly combined Air India.

The Center has authorized the transfer of funds, which includes Singapore Airlines’ permission for deploying foreign direct investment (FDI) in Air India.

Tata Group announce the merger of Vistara in Air India

Starting September 3, passengers won’t be able to book Vistara flights for travel after November 11. Instead, all Vistara flights will be moved to Air India. If you want to book flights for dates after the merger, you’ll need to use Air India’s booking platforms.

Vistara will keep taking bookings and running flights as usual until November 11, 2024,” the airline stated. Starting the next day, all of Vistara’s planes and crew will move to Air India. The routes flown by these planes will also become part of Air India’s larger network.

The merger was first announced in November 2022. Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth experience for both passengers and staff. “Teams from Air India and Vistara have been working together for months to ensure that the transition of aircraft, flight crews, ground staff, and, most importantly, our valued customers into the new Air India is as seamless as possible,” Mr. Wilson said.

Passengers who have already booked Vistara flights after November 12 will have their bookings automatically transferred to Air India. While flight numbers will change to match Air India’s system, the schedules, aircraft, and crews will mostly stay the same until early 2025. The airlines have also created a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help passengers during this transition.
